There are so many choices out there for dog foods. How to choose? Well look at the first three ingredients, if any of them are by-products, fillers (i.e. corn, rice, etc), then stay away. Such as Ol'Roy, Dog chow, Pedigree, and even Science Diet. Dog foods that you can buy anywhere such a grocery store are not going to be a good choice. Dog foods you can get only at a pet specialty store, are going to be the best option! I have a 5yr old female Bichon. I was feeding her Wellness Small Breed. While I still highly recommend Wellness, I am actually now feeding my girl Blue Buffalo Freedom. Its a grain free and also even better the formula I am feeding her also comes in small breed. Purina Pro Plan is a another good dry dog food, for those who don't want to or can't spend a bit more on a great food for their dog. Read the food labels before buying. Look at what is in the bag and you will be surprised. Compare several brands of dog food. I did, and that helped me make my decision on what I am feeding my girl. A really good food, will help with skin, coat, the digestive system, and the overall health of your pet. This info also goes for cats! The website below, is an awesome site. It not only list the best dog foods, but it breaks it down. It breaks it down to grain free, low/ high protein, low fat and so on. I recommend looking at this site and possibly switching if you don't already have your pet on a good dog food. Here is one more benefit of switching your pet to a better food, than Pedigree or Beneful, you may be paying more, but you will be feeding less. Your pet will get the nutrients he/ she needs, and not a bunch of crap. So you'll be paying more for the bag, but in the long run you need to be buying less! Just think about it!
