After getting up and baking yesterday for Thanksgiving, I was glad to sleep in this morning! I was in charge of desserts at my family's Thanksgiving Celebration yesterday! I LOVE to bake, more than I love to cook an actual meal. Of course I made the Traditional Pumpkin Pie. I made that with my niece when I babysat her on Tuesday! Oh she had a great time helping me bake. Like most toddlers, they want to help. She is 3yrs old and loves to help me do anything! She was very eager to pour things into the mixing bowl and stir for me! Love spending time with my niece! I told the family that Rylee made the pie, but they all knew who would have done what without saying, but it made my niece feel great them thinking she made the pie all by herself. Also, with most toddlers, they think they are more independent than they really are. Anyhow, I also made an Autumn Cheesecake. Basically it's an apple pie, on top of a cheesecake. That was REALLY good. However, the only thing that was a problem with that, was the crust. Next time I make it, I'll be using a regular crust recipe and not the crust recipe that came with the recipe. It was WAY to thick and hard to eat! You can go to Allrecipes.com and type in Autumn Cheesecake. Or my cooking page on facebook at https://www.facebook.com/differentgoodeats for the recipe! I love sharing with everyone recipes I find and try out. It's a great feeling to be asked for a recipe! I made these respberry thumbprint shortbread cookies for a family gathering back in the Spring. Oh they were delicious! One of my Aunts, she makes cookies for weddings. She asked for the recipe to use for a wedding! That made my day! Thankfully, it was a recipe that I just made that morning and it was so simple I was able write down the recipe for her on the spot. I double checked when I got home and I was right!

Online Shopping Vs Location shopping
There is already talk of Black Friday deals being leaked! To me that just seems crazy and the corporate America we live in! I think it's absolutely RIDICULOUS that there are going to be stores, other than the ones who seem to never close, that are opening up early for "Special holiday" deals! I refuse to go shopping on Thanksgiving! I'm hoping many other people refuse, but since they are open, people are going to go. That just saddens me! Black Friday is a whole other store. It saddens me, people start camping out the night before, on a HOLIDAY, to get items for themselves or for others. I refuse to go out on Black Friday, but that's mainly because I don't like dealing that many people, let along that early in the morning. I did it one year, just to see what the hype was all about. Well, it made me wonder more about people and all I got out of it was tiredness and a short lived laugh at other's expense! I did have some early morning fun family, that was about it! With all that said, I will check out the online deals. I won't be getting up early in the morning to shop online, well unless this baby growing in me wakes me up and I can't get back sleep! I'm a fan of the internet. However, there still are some benefits to location shopping, yet again to online shopping! You just have to do your research. Where are you getting the better deal, do you need this item right away, is it being sent somewhere (which online shopping can save your sometimes in shipping if it's a gift & most sites offer some sort of gifting), am I closer to go pick it up, do I get free shipping, is this item not available near me, personalize item, am I to lazy to go to the store and SO on. Every purchase varies on whether you should get it online or just suck it up and go to the store!

Waffle Irons
I am one of those people, I like multiple uses for items. For this post I'm going to focus on Waffle Irons. Most people, just use these appliances for just making waffles. I used to till, I started looking up recipes! Love those cinnamon rolls, instead of waiting for that oven to preheat, then another 15 minutes or so to bake; turn that waffle iron on, spray non-stick spray, place the rolls (what you think will fit), and should be ready in just a matter of minutes. Then plop on some icing! They taste just as good as in the oven! Another use is to make a hashbrown waffle. Could top that with some bacon and eggs (made the way you like)! Tonight I came across some used their waffle iron to make a grilled cheese! I find that VERY interesting! I'm going to try that sometime soon! I've heard people making brownies in their waffle iron! OMG, there are SO many choices to do! In my kitchen Blog I'll spend the next posting of recipes on waffle iron uses!

Baby
I am now almost 6 months pregnant! We are getting more excited about the baby as it gets closer! After having a miscarriage in January, I was thrilled to be pregnant again. Of course I was pretty nervous, thinking what if this one ended in a miscarriage as well. After the first trimester, that fear has mostly diminished but hasn't fully gone away. I just don't let myself constantly think about it. I am just enjoying my last few months of doing whatever I need or want to without having to worry about a baby to take care of as well. I look forward very much to this baby coming and having my own child. I do want to have more eventually but I'm in no rush, by any means to get pregnant right away after this one comes along! We've been buying clothes for our little baby already! I highly recommend for ANY parent to be or current parents to ALWAYS check out the end of the season sales. Majority of the clothes we have purchased, are clothes, that our baby won't be able to wear till 3 to 12 months of age! That's okay, we've saved SO much money by doing this. We've gotten a few newborn clothes items BUT have stayed away because well I know a lot of that will be nicely given to us at the baby shower. We've also started to buy some bigger ticket items that we are sure most people won't purchase because of various reason, nor do we expect anyone to purchase really large ticket items we need. We are registered at Babies R Us and any time we make a purchase we get a couple of 20% off single item for a later date! So since we still have a few months till baby arrives, we go and get an item for 20% off here and there. This is saving us some money too! Yes we need to be spending money for this baby, BUT doesn't mean we have to wipe out our account doing so. We saved about $100 on the dresser we picked out for the baby's room with a 20% coupon! YAY! Saved another $50 or so on a stroller system! Was excited about that too! If anyone would be awesome and love to help us out with our registry purchases, please go to babiesrus.com and search for Registry #: 50941762!
Also another way to help us is to purchase from Scentsy. I've made postings before, that I am an Independent Scentsy Consultant and Independent Velata Consultant too! Genius Recycling Idea from Bejing!
I think this is a GREAT idea! The majority of us, all drink some sort of bottled beverage during our week or even multiples a day! Now, not everyone of us takes a train or subway somewhere but in areas like New York and elsewhere, there is a lot of subway travel. So why not offer discount OR this be the form of payment here if there is enough bottles being turned in for travel fare! This could really help in recycling and reduce the amount of crap going into landfills, laying on the streets and into the waterways! Spread the word and maybe we can this going here in the United States, or where ever you may live. I live in the St.Louis, Missouri area, we do have a local train/ tram system called the Metro link, this could work to pay for that!

25 HOUSEHOLD TIPS!!!
25 HOUSEHOLD TIPS!!!
1. Take your bananas apart when you get home from the store. If you leave them connected at the stem, they ripen faster.
2. Store your opened chunks of cheese in aluminum foil. It will stay fresh much longer and not mold!
3. Peppers with 3 bumps on the bottom are sweeter and better for eating. Peppers with 4 bumps on the bottom are firmer and better for cooking.
4. Add a teaspoon of water when frying ground beef. It will help pull the grease away from the meat while cooking.
5. To really make scrambled eggs or omelets rich add a couple of spoonfuls of sour cream, cream cheese, or heavy cream in and then beat them up.
6. For a cool brownie treat, make brownies as directed. Melt Andes mints in double broiler and pour over warm brownies. Let set for a wonderful minty frosting.
7. Add garlic immediately to a recipe if you want a light taste of garlic and at the end of the recipe if your want a stronger taste of garlic.
8. Leftover snickers bars from Halloween make a delicious dessert. Simply chop them up with the food chopper. Peel, core and slice a few apples. Place them in a baking dish and sprinkle the chopped candy bars over the apples. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes!!! Serve alone or with vanilla ice cream. Yummm!
9. Reheat Pizza
Heat up leftover pizza in a nonstick skillet on top of the stove, set heat to med-low and heat till warm. This keeps the crust crispy. No soggy micro pizza. I saw this on the cooking channel and it really works.
10. Easy Deviled Eggs
Put cooked egg yolks in a zip lock bag. Seal, mash till they are all broken up. Add remainder of ingredients, reseal, keep mashing it up mixing thoroughly, cut the tip of the baggy, squeeze mixture into egg. Just throw bag away when done easy clean up.
11. Expanding Frosting
When you buy a container of cake frosting from the store, whip it with your mixer for a few minutes. You can double it in size. You get to frost more cake/cupcakes with the same amount. You also eat less sugar and calories per serving.
12. Reheating refrigerated bread
To warm biscuits, pancakes, or muffins that were refrigerated, place them in a microwave with a cup of water. The increased moisture will keep the food moist and help it reheat faster.
13. Newspaper weeds away
Start putting in your plants, work the nutrients in your soil. Wet newspapers, put layers around the plants overlapping as you go. Cover with mulch and forget about weeds. Weeds will get through some gardening plastic they will not get through wet newspapers.
14. Broken Glass
Use a wet cotton ball or Q-tip to pick up the small shards of glass you can't see easily.
15. No More Mosquitoes
Place a dryer sheet in your pocket. It will keep the mosquitoes away.
16. Squirrel Away!
To keep squirrels from eating your plants, sprinkle your plants with cayenne pepper. The cayenne pepper doesn't hurt the plant and the squirrels won't come near it.
17. Flexible vacuum
To get something out of a heat register or under the fridge add an empty paper towel roll or empty gift wrap roll to your vacuum. It can be bent or flattened to get in narrow openings.
18. Reducing Static Cling
Pin a small safety pin to the seam of your slip and you will not have a clingy skirt or dress. Same thing works with slacks that cling when wearing panty hose. Place pin in seam of slacks and ... guess what! ... static is gone.
19. Measuring Cups
Before you pour sticky substances into a measuring cup, fill with hot water. Dump out the hot water, but don't dry cup. Next, add your ingredient, such as peanut butter, and watch how easily it comes right out. (Or spray the measuring cup or spoon with Pam before using)
20. Foggy Windshield?
Hate foggy windshields? Buy a chalkboard eraser and keep it in the glove box of your car When the windows fog, rub with the eraser! Works better than a cloth!
21. Re-opening envelopes
If you seal an envelope and then realize you forgot to include something inside, just place your sealed envelope in the freezer for an hour or two. Viola! It unseals easily.
22. Conditioner
Use your hair conditioner to shave your legs. It's cheaper than shaving cream and leaves your legs really smooth. It's also a great way to use up the conditioner you bought but didn't like when you tried it in your hair.
23. Goodbye Fruit Flies
To get rid of pesky fruit flies, take a small glass, fill it 1/2' with Apple Cider Vinegar and 2 drops of dish washing liquid; mix well. You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever!
24. Get Rid of Ants
Put small piles of cornmeal where you see ants. They eat it, take it 'home,' can't digest it so it kills them. It may take a week or so, especially if it rains, but it works and you don't have the worry about pets or small children being harmed!
25. Dryer Filter
Even if you are very diligent about cleaning the lint filter in your dryer it still may be causing you a problem. If you use dryer sheets a waxy build up could be accumulating on the filter causing your dryer to over heat. The solution to this is to clean your filter with with a toothbrush and hot soapy water every 6 months

Velata Fondue!!!
Most people have never heard of Velata. I never did until it was a year old and I'd been apart of Scentsy for 8 months! I am a Independent Velata Consultant as well as one for Scentsy! What is Velata? It's simple! It DELICIOUS fondue! Velata offers Chocolates and Cheese, as well is mixable flavors for the chocolates! Like Scentsy, Velata uses warmers (but this are food safe) to melt the chocolates and keep the cheeses nice while serving! There are four kinds of chocolates and fours kinds of cheeses. The chocolates are: Milk, Caramel Milk, White, and Dark Chocolate; while on the cheese side of the family are: Cheddar, Bacon & Cheddar, Fiesta Queso, & Smoked Gouda! I love ALL the chocolates. All the cheeses taste good, but I'd admit, prefer the perfect spiciness of the Fiesta Queso! I'll admit too, that I love the Caramel Milk Chocolate above all, just the right amount of caramel in the milk chocolate! Bring the joy of Fondue into your home! Perfect for date night in, up to taking to a party! Everyone will SURE to love the fondue! They'll be asking you where you got it! You could be the one to introduce them to this awesomeness! Like me you can sell it too! You could get paid to party! The starter kit is only $99 (before tax and shipping)! It comes with everything you will need to get started, including business supplies like catalogs and order forms! Do as many parties a month as you want OR do as few! September is bonus kit month, making it the best month to join the Velata family! You'll get MORE in your starter kit for the same price!!! OMG! That's awesome! Speaking of awesome, I can't believe I didn't mention this already! Starting September 1st, the entire catalog (except the Alotta Velata) is 10% off! Who doesn't love a discount?!? I know I do! This also makes it the best month to buy! October 1st will start a new catalog, so get this current catalog while you can at a lower price!!! ALL Velata warmers include a bulb and a set of fondue forks! Why stop there, there are many other items to add to your Velata collection! There are a variety of Warmer styles/ colors to choose from too! I don't think this could get ANY more exciting, until you order and get your Velata Experience in! With that said, just go check out my website! There you will find ALL products that Velata is currently offering! Also, there you will find all the information you need before you decide to join the Velata family! I've been lucky as an Independent Scentsy Consultant to been able to pre-sniff the new scents! I super excited that the Pumpkin is back! That is my FAVORITE scent. On the other hand, I'm sad to see some of the scents in the Spring/ Summer catalog go away! Today is the last day to purchase from the S/S catalog and the last day to get items for 10% off! There are some new warmers coming out as well, they are available starting tomorrow as well! I have a personal special I am doing through out the month of September. Due to some policies, I cannot announce that here so, if you would like to know what my special is, please send me an email to photogal314@aol.com and PLEASE put "Scentsy" in the subject line so I just don't delete you! I do have a Fundraiser going on my website right now. This is to help a family with their baby boy and his medical bills. This sweet baby boy's name is Cooper, he was born premature. Not only that, but he has down syndrome and a couple of diseases going on! I am happy to say, that he is now in his loving home where he belongs! Eleven most obnoxious names
Here are the eleven most obnoxious names that we can find:
1. Captain Fantastic Faster Than Superman Spiderman Batman Wolverine Hulk And The Flash Combined. Some young (and possibly insane) British teenager actually legally changed his name to this long and ridiculous moniker. He says that most people just call him 'Captain.'2. Depressed Cupboard Cheesecake. Ah, the British. A charming couple in Kent, England chose this name for their baby. We don't know if it belongs to a baby girl or boy, but we bet that he or she is currently in therapy.
3. Trout Fishing in America. He was born Peter Eastman, Jr., but he changed it. He just loved the novella that much. Plus...it was only $182.
4. Optimus Prime. The Transformers character is so popular that a National Guardsman actually changed his name to this, legally, and has no intention to change it back.
5. They. Yep. Just 'They.' He was Andrew Wilson. In 2004 he legally became 'They.' Now you know who the they is they're always talking about...It's just that guy Andy from Missouri. Weird.
6. Superman. A New Zealand couple named their baby boy this, but that's not the worst part. The worst part is that was their second choice. Their first choice was '4Real.' Really.
7. Sarah McCain Palin. Umm they lost, remember?
8. Kayciance Clarita-jayne. K-Séance is the pronunciation, and you would think that they could have at least capitalized 'Jayne.'
9. Sunshine Deathray. Ok. We can get behind the idea of sunshine. Even rays of sunshine , but deathrays? No.
10. Aksel. Sure. Like Axl Rose from Guns-n-Roses, or like the axle on your car, or what?
11. Razziel. Were they trying for something that sounded like a Biblical Archangel or something? If they were, they failed at their task. Could it get more pathetic?
Actually, yes it could get more pathetic. These are only eleven of the way-too-many bizarre, obnoxious, and downright terrible names that are out there. Some of these people did this to themselves, but most were innocent victims. Please, people. Name your children carefully, and make sure you're sober at the time!

Three Reasons You Shouldn’t Shave Your Pet
It’s
hot out there! And if your Golden Retriever or long-haired kitty seems
to suffer when the mercury rises, you might feel some temptation to
break out your grooming tools and give your pets a full shave-down. We
get where you’re coming from.
But wait! Put down those clippers! According to experts, you’ll be doing your pet a disservice. Here’s why:
Dogs’ coats have several layers, and these layers are essential to your dog’s comfort in the heat. Robbing your dog of this natural cooling system can lead to discomfort and overheating. And keeping your dog cool isn’t the only reason to leave his coat intact, Dr. Murray warns.
Of course, pet parents should remember to keep pets inside with plenty of water during hot days—hydration is key! For more important information on summer pet care, visit our Hot-Weather Tips. Stay cool out there!
But wait! Put down those clippers! According to experts, you’ll be doing your pet a disservice. Here’s why:
- While you or I would hate to sport a fur coat in 100-degree weather, your pets’ fur coats are actually providing them with heat relief.
Dogs’ coats have several layers, and these layers are essential to your dog’s comfort in the heat. Robbing your dog of this natural cooling system can lead to discomfort and overheating. And keeping your dog cool isn’t the only reason to leave his coat intact, Dr. Murray warns.
- Your dog’s coat prevents your pup from getting sunburn and helps protect her from skin cancer.
- There are better ways to manage your pets’ coats to keep them cool: trimming and brushing.

Car Door Guard
Do you have to pull your car into a smaller space than you would like and tired of banging your door against the wall. I came across this idea somewhere, some time ago and thought this was a GREAT idea and the bonus is that you don't have to spend a whole lot of money on it! Cut one of those pool noodles (length wise) in half. Once that's done, attach it to the wall, make sure it's in a spot that is going to protect your door when you opens up for you to get out of your car. I love find good and cheap fixes to the home! With Spring/ Summer approaching those pool noodles are going to be out! So when you are buying those pool toys, make sure you pick up an extra one for your garage!

Crafting with Kids: How to Make Crayons
03/18/2013
This weekend, there was some kid friendly crafting in the Putnam household – we decided to make our own crayons.
A few weeks ago my daughter, Peanut, came home from
school with a homemade crayon given to her from a friend. She has been
asking me since then if we could try it, and so on Saturday, that was
our main goal – make crayons. Lots of crayons.
We started with our crayon bin digging through the broken and junkier ones.
Step 1: Peel the Wrappers
We began peeling off the wrappers which we did find to
be a bit tedious. But then we figured out if I used a knife and
cutting board and cut a slit down the side, then she was able to easily
remove the labels. Be super careful to not hurt yourself please!
We kept going until we had a nice big pile of wrapper-free crayons.
Step 2: Sort by Color
I had her direct as much of the creative side as
possible – but my only suggestion was to minimize the color mix so they
didn’t all just become mud. She decided to start by grouping them by
color, like a rainbow.
Step 3: Bake
I picked up a Wilton silicon baking mould at
Michael’s in star shapes to use for this project. We filled each one
about a third. There were a few we filled a little higher and they
worked just fine, they were just a little bit thicker.
We placed it on a cookie sheet to make it easier to
take in and out. Each batch took about 20 minutes to bake at 275
degrees. Some of the crayon pieces were holding on solid longer than
others. When this happened, I used a tooth pick to swirl it and break
them apart.
Step 4: Remove from Oven and Let Cool
Once they were completely liquid, we took them out
and swirled them a little bit with a toothpick to mix the colors. We
left them in the tray on a cooling rack until they started to solidify.
Once they were no longer liquid, we placed them in the freezer until
they were completely solid and cooled. Each of these steps took about
10 minutes.
Step 5: Remove Crayons from the Mould
Because the mould is silicone, I was able to stretch
the sides of each star away from the crayon, working my way around the
star. Once it was completely loose, I was able to easily remove it. I
expected some breakage – but we actually ended up making 30 crayons and
none of them broke.
Now, my girl is 10 and would have done this all day
long. With smaller children, one batch might be just enough because the
whole cycle can take quite awhile.
Once we put the first batch in, we used some small
Pyrex dishes to start organizing the next batches. This also helped to
get everything organized so that we could start cleaning up.
Then, we started some other projects and kept moving each batch through the steps.
When a batch finished, we just poured the dishes into the stars and started again.
